As WWE plays out on the television, model Amber Reynne wrestles with the questions before her. “I’m from beautiful Destin, Florida,” she informs proudly. “Destin is a beautiful city! I mostly enjoy the sugar sand and emerald colored water. I absolutely love riding my Harley down the highway and looking at the gorgeous palm trees and beaches.” I picture her straddling her Harley, helmet-free, hair caught in the winds like a flag of surrender; palm trees blurring together forming peripheral walls on either side becoming some kind of highway-hallway.

“I am in my friend’s place downtown Toronto,” Joan Chang describes her surroundings as she answers my questions, “and I see the delicious salty ground beef that my friend made for her bf and a gorgeous view from her twenty-fifth floor balcony.” I find myself wishing I were there plotting on that tempting salty ground beef. She isn’t from Toronto, she is actually from Malaysia, but “migrated” to Richmond Hill, Canada. “My family origins are Chinese Malaysian, my ancestors are from China” she informs me. “I am Malaysian. My family came from Malaysia.”

When someone says their biggest fear is of “failing”, you wonder how resolute they are in securing a successful life and future. How does one even become a failure at life? Do they fail to live out their dreams, fail to embrace their destiny, or is it simply a matter of not achieving a specific set of goals? Failure varies from person to person, each of us fails at something at one time or another and fear of failure shouldn’t stop one from worthy pursuits, chasing their dreams; seeking to achieve all their hearts desire. Our featured angel, L. Shima says failing petrifies her; this I will take as a sign that she has big plans for herself.

Another restless night. Uncontrolled thoughts alert me to unforeseeable concerns; good spirits do nothing to curtail these passionate thoughts that could easily double as paranoia. Across my flatscreen, talks of love, ideas about devotion and the temptations of perceived evil play out through the telling of true life stories. The effects of career choices, the joys of life and one’s life passion also find airtime during an episode of House of Lies. Of course this gets my already overactive mind entertaining the very same topics. Thankfully I have a South Australian angel here to indulge me a bit.

Edita Rink. High fashion looks draw you in with cartoon-like wonder; she is a striking Eastern European beauty indeed. Born in Lithuania where she admits she had a very ‘fun’ childhood, Edita was a tomboy who played sports like baseball and basketball. It’s hard to see the sporty past in her images, all one sees is a determined angel who has sacrificed so much to become a model, yet here she is.

Kayy Dawn is… different. Not quite like Two Chains or Lady Gaga, she isn’t entertainingly different, she is fundamentally different; seriously a pear in a bowl of apples. In Angels Playpen, difference is praised; character a blessing, uniqueness heavenly. It’s almost become sort of a religion, a set of practices that embraces freedom of thought, actively repels negativity, vigorously spreads love and judges nothing and no one. ‘Do You!’ we suggest emphatically, you need not concern yourself with the actions of other unless they threaten the balance of our world. What makes Kayy Dawn different? “My weird outgoing, sexual, twisted personality,” she answers proudly. Hmmm… this should be a good interview.

My smartphone rang its classic tone but I didn’t recognize the number. I answered and remained quiet as I listened to the tiny female voice utter, “Hello”. The caller hung up after I didn’t respond. My phone rang again and again I answered, repeating the silent treatment. The adorable voice uttered “hello” once again, however this time a little more firmly. Still I remained silent. Something about the voice stuck with me, there was a certain innocence to its caliber that begged me to find out who the caller was…
