Umicore is a materials technology group that has there company plant in Hoboken, Belgium. Conix Architects has designed and built a fascinating new structure for Umicore, creating a dynamic facade modernizing the company, increasing confidence in pushing forward in the 21st century. They added a compact tower with offices, screens, green areas, billboards, signage and route directions. The building stands out effortlessly among the surrounding traditional industrial park of which it is part. The building sits south of the Antwerp agglomerate. Take a look.

Japanese architecture firm Be-Fun Design, in collaboration with Kohei Iwasaki and Tota Abe of EANA recently completed this "Outdoors Indoors House" in Shinagawa-Ku; one of 23 special wards of Tokyo. The 775 square foot residence was designed and constructed for a couple who love outdoor activities.

The Avenue House by Neil Architecture

 

Australian firm Neil Architecture‘s Melbourne project The Avenue consisted of designing two houses for its clients: one to keep, and one to sell. The site is located on an established suburban street, where there was a mandate to protect existing vegetation. For this reason, the houses weave around the the original landscape features and interlock with each other with the use of a wall. The exterior is clad with vertical shiplap timber (a type of inexpensive wooden board) and cement with a velvet finish.
